OUTLINE OF MY RECENT RESEARCH: My research concerns: (a) the processes which have formed and modified the sub-continental lithospheric upper mantle, (b) the nature of the interaction between asthenosphere-derived magmas and the continental lithosphere, and (c) the origin and evolution of the lower continental crust. I have recently moved into the field of meteorite research, investigating the origin of ultramafic meteorites which form part of the mantle of asteroids. My work has been funded by NERC, the Royal Society, NATO, British Council, Leverhulme Trust, European Science Foundation and the University of London. I have published over 100 research papers in national and international journals.
