We would like to draw your attention to the following session being held at the Southeastern Section of the Geological Society of America Meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The meeting will be from Wednesday, March, 20 to Thursday, March 21, 2013. Contributions from all areas of seismology, tectonics, and tsunamis of the Caribbean are welcome.
SESSION T5. Caribbean Earthquakes and Tsunamis.
SESSION DESCRIPTION:
Society depends on Earth science to identify earthquake and tsunami hazards and to help reduce the losses they cause. The 2010 earthquake in Haiti and the 2011 tsunami in Japan showed how important such research and outreach can be. This session will focus on Caribbean (and western Atlantic) earthquakes and tsunamis and on efforts to reduce the associated risks.
SPONSORS: Seismology, Seismicity and Tectonics, Volcano Seismology, Computational Seismology
DEADLINE: Please submit your abstract to (https://gsa.confex.com/gsa/2013SE/cfp.epl) by next Tuesday, December 11, 2012.
We hope that you can submit an abstract to our session and take part in the conversation. Thank you and hope to see you in San Juan next year!
Best Regards,
Alberto López, University of Puerto Rico–Mayagüez; Brian Atwater, USGS; Christa G. von Hillebrandt, NOAA-NWS
