The mass spectrometry research group at the University of Hong Kong is offering a PhD position in carbonate cluster geochemistry. We are seeking a highly motivated student with an interest in clustering and carbonate prenucleation processes both from an experimental and modeling perspective. PhD topics offered center around the molecular-scale speciation and solvation of carbonate clusters using electrospray ionization resonance mass spectrometry and theoretical approaches. One of the goals of this kind of work is to characterize structures and energetic properties of individual carbonate clusters and to study cluster growth and hydration one molecule at a time. Interested candidates should send their CV, cover letter and contact details of three referees to [email protected].
